Modification of the iron protein of Gloeothece nitrogenase: a mass spectrometric study.

چکیده
Gloeothece is a non-heterocystous, unicellular cyanobacterium that is capable of aerobic N, fixation [I]. As in other diazotrophs, nitrogenase in Gloeothece consists of a MoFe-protein and an Feprotein. The Faprotein of Gloeothece nitrogenase can be resolved into two different, though antigenically similar, forms by SDSPAGE. These two forms have apparent M, values of 38 500 and 40 000 respectively, and their relative concentrations vary according to prevailing environmental conditions [2].

Covalent modification of the iron protein of nitrogenase from Rhodospirillum rubrum by adenosine diphosphoribosylation of a specific arginine residue.
Nitrogenase in Rhodospirillum rubrum is inactivated in vivo by the covalent modification of the Fe protein with a nucleotide. The preparation of two modified peptides derived from proteolytic digestion of the inactive Fe protein is described. The modifying group is shown to be adenosine diphosphoribose, linked through the terminal ribose to a guanidino nitrogen of arginine. The structural featu...
متن کاملGamma Spectrometric Analysis of Iron Ore Samples of Arak, Iran
Introduction Iron ore is one of the most important natural raw materials that is widely used for manufacturing iron and steel. This type of ore contains various amounts of radionuclides; thus, exposing workers handling their extraction, transportation, and processing to radiation. Materials and Methods In this study, 12 ore samples (each mass weighing about 2 kg) were collected from the iron or...
متن کاملPosttranslational modification of a vanadium nitrogenase
In microbes that fix nitrogen, nitrogenase catalyzes the conversion of N2 to ammonia in an ATP-demanding reaction. To help conserve energy some bacteria inhibit nitrogenase activity upon exposure to ammonium. The purple nonsulfur phototrophic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris strain CGA009 can synthesize three functional nitrogenase isoenzymes: a molybdenum nitrogenase, a vanadium nitrogenas...
متن کاملIN SILICO STUDIES OF NifH PROTEIN STRUCTURE AND ITS POST- TRANSLATIONAL MODIFICATION IN Bradyrhizobium sp. ORS278
Bradyrhizobium is a gram negative, symbiotic nitrogen fixer that can form nodules in the roots of leguminous plants. The enzyme nitrogenase is the utmost important component of nitrogen fixing machinery, comprising two proteins, a molydenum-iron protein (MoFe protein) and an iron protein (Fe protein). Since, there is no comprehensive data on the tertiary structure of the nitrogenase iron protei...
متن کاملBoron requirement in cyanobacteria : its possible role in the early evolution of photosynthetic organisms.
The effect of boron on heterocystous and nonheterocystous dinitrogen fixing Cyanobacteria was examined. The absence of boron in culture media inhibited growth and nitrogenase activity in Nodularia sp., Chlorogloeopsis sp., and Nostoc sp. cultures. Examinations of boron-deficient cultures showed changes in heterocyst morphology. However, cultures of nonheterocystous Cyanobacteria, Gloeothece sp....
